Hi, looking for opinions/experience

What’s better?
Leupold Mark5 HD 5-25/56 or Kahles 525i DLR

I mostly will use it for Target shooting. Not planning on being competitive. But might one day ☺️

Thanks in advance

That is a loaded question when asking about these two optics. First they are in two different price ranges. Second, Leupold is not very popular on this site. I will tell you I have Mark 5 HD 3.6-18 PR-1 MOA, and I love it. Ladd has a very good thread about his experience with the Kales if you want to know more about that scope.

My Kahles 525i is not the DLR but I have heard the DLR to be that much nicer with respect to the field of view over its predecessor. Very nice glass and turrets for sure. Well built. Strong. And the turret clicks are just what you want to hear and feel.

For me, it is a no-brainer. Kahles. Clear, repeatable, RTZ, and tracking is perfect. The ergonomics take a bit of getting used to with the parallax dial on the top below the elevation turret.

I see far too many failures with Leupold to ever put another one on one of my personal rifles.

I've played the Leupold and and ended up buying a Kahles 624. The Kahles is significantly better in quality in my opinion. Glass is superior, turrets are better, and overall build is better thought out. I understand the 525i DLR is a significant advance. I know where I would spend my money.

Thanks for all the reply.
I ended up and bought a Kahles 525i DLR yesterday.
Today i was at the range to zero both my Rifles.
So i could compare the Kahles with my Vortex Razor LHT 3-15x42.

And i was very disappointed from the Kahles. :-(
We have at the moment a very smoky atmosphere from the Wildfires, think if the smoke is gone, the Kahles looks more clear, but in comparison to the LHT Razor, i give the point to the LHT.
Let's see what's happen the next time i shoot it. But i expected more i guess

Oh shoot. In 3 days we will be announcing another great choice to this line up. But we can't talk about it before the release date. Furman and I are testing them now. More soon.
This will be exciting. Cannot wait.

I have six (yes ... 6) Mark 5HD's that I use on two 6.5-CM's, 300-WM, 300-PRC, 300-NM, and 338-LM. Never got behind a Kahles ... never needed to. I'm hitting 1-mile steel regularly with my scopes, and couldn't imagine anything better in that price-range. I could possibly be talked up to a Nightforce, but that would be the only thing I'd consider if I was willing to spend more. BTW ... the Leupold "Vet Discount" is AWESOME !!!

So finally a quick update. Well the Kahles is a good Scope.:)
You just have to look through the correct way lol

My Issue was, that i never got a good Cheekweld to my stock, due the Stock design. Now i swapped it into a Chassi with proper cheek riser, and if you look through straight, :) it also shows you a good picture.

Never thought that it makes such a big difference. I think, the better the scope, the better you notice if you are not looking through straight.

My experience,my thought, or i just was blind when i bought it lol

@Broz @FURMAN

Did the new Kahles not get released?

My new build will be done in January and I'm still trying to decide on a scope.

I wanted to look at this new Kahles and also see if you have any new thoughts on the Zeiss S3?

If either the Kahles or Zeiss don't make your list I'll just go with the Atacr in either the 4-20 or 5-25.

Has the S3 had any reliability issues? Is the Kahles still going to be released?

The only reason I'm wondering about the Zeiss is because I can get a Zeiss product at 40% off.
