Got a quick load setup with 220LRHT and verified drops at 700yds. I am hoping to take a big cull buck(or several) but today I made a quick shot on a large running boar.
impact velocity was 2700fps. Entry was in the neck just below the ear angling back into the shoulder.
.308 entrance with a dime hole in muscle just below skin. Then hell broke loose in the neck muscle expanding to a 2-3” wound channel completely snapping the spine then turning the off side shoulder into mush. Bullet was lodged in the center of the heavy shoulder muscle. I realize this is a high speed impact but I am impressed the core and jacket still held together. Not a great test but off to a good start. I will get bullet pics and weights soon. Off to bed with an early wake up for the morning hunt!

pics of autopsy say “too large”...I will edit and post as hunting time allows. Just know initial results are good and I hope to have more pics and test specimens tomorrow.

A friend just picked up a couple boxes due to not being able to find 215s. Sounds like the initial testing is positive, definitely looking forward to lower impact velocity info.

Thank you for the report. I look forward to you further experiences with impacts to softer tissue to see how expansion is at lower impact velocities and less bone. We appreciate your testing.

I realize it’s not exactly apples to apples, but have been shooting the 144’s and the 109’s in 6.5 and 6mm respectively. The results I’ve seen are positive and I have great confidence. I did some testing with .308 155 VLD’s years ago that were tipped with a die, and while they still “worked”, it wasn’t as violent as the untipped VLD. I figured these new LRH bullets would act the same, as they are “tipped” from the factory. I was wrong. 200 yard coyote chest shot day before yesterday with ~ 3000 fps MV and no exit with the 109 in the 6CM. Suppressed so the meat report was loud and hollow. Mush inside with jacket material found on the hindquarter. No exits to sew.

Well guys, this hunting trip was even harder than I expected, due to a 75% anthrax kill 2yrs ago the amount of deer that needed to be taken was very low and no culls were seen in 4 days of hunting. I saw a lot of neat things that I will post in the appropriate thread. I had no longrange opportunities but took another running pig going up the canyon wall. This one at 200yds, 220LRHT caught her just below the eye, exploding on the skull. The interesting thing is 2 large holes exited the shoulder. I know its not what we were looking for and I will have some better chances over the last month of MLD season to achieve some slow impact, soft tissue shots. I am happy with the initial performance of expansion and penetration because sometimes we have the close shot that needs to be taken too and I think the 220LRHT will do just fine if you need to take an elk at under 100yds.

the 2 exit holes in the shoulder are circled in red. Its hard to tell what was what after the skull explosion but this could have easily been the core and jacket or 2 large pieces of lead but none the less, somethings traveled through a lot of meat after going through the skull and exited. This was a very large pregnant sow, good conservation kill and good eating!

Finally got a chance to try this bullet out yesterday evening. Found a good load in my 300Wm with n570. Not a super long range shot but here in SC there aren't many super long range shots. 292yds. MV 2929. Impact velocity 2562. Calber size entrance and about a 1.5" exit. Bang flop. Massive bleeding so had to have done plenty of internal damage. Pretty large whitetail doe for here 140lbs.

Trying to attach some pics but...
