Hello all,
In hopes of simplifying my life, I’ve decided to try and run the same powder / primers in both my 30-06 and 270 win. My thoughts:

270 Win
CEB 125 gr Maximus
H4350

30-06
CEB 180 gr Maximus
H4350

Neither of these rifles are LR Rifles and as much as I would love to see 1/2” or less loads, I would be ok with anything under MOA. Neither rifle will be pushed passed 400 yards with most shots being 200 or less.

With that said, AND if you all agree with the above, what should be my primer of choice. I would like to buy two 1000 count bricks and not have to worry about primers for either of these rifles for many years. I am currently running 215M’s in my 300wm and although I’ve heard some run magnum primers in the 30-06 and 270, I’m not sure if that’s what I should do.

Thanks for all of your help / advice!
Nick

I've loaded for both the 270 & 30 06 using standard rifle primers CCI 200, CCI BR2 and Winchester Large rifle primers. All worked fine. I was running RL16 and StaBall 6.5 which is very close to H4350.

My dad loaded .243 and .30-06 with magnum federal primers so that’s what I used when I started reloading since I knew the powder and bullet combo that worked well with them. I currently load for my .243, .30-06, 300 RUM and soon 300 Norma. I will be adding a 25SST that I will also run magnum primers. I use 215’s in my .243 and .30-06. I use CCI 250’s for my rum.

I think it comes down to preference and what works well with the load you put together. Right now I would go with whatever I could get my hands on or already have.

Here is a video I watched the other day that was just posted about primer choice.

Good luck.

It's been many years since I used anything but the Federal 215 in my .30-06.

Lightweights, and heavyweight bullets both.

Try and get you a couple 1000 Fed210m or Fed210. I use them almost exclusively on all my 30-06 sized cases.

Thank you all for the advice! I’ve put myself on many backorder lists. Hopefully can find some sooner than later.
