I am a huge 260 fan from the standpoint of quick, low recoil, high BC bullets that are fun to shoot. I was at a PRS match recently where my gunsmith drove down and was talking to me about the 260 imp 30. Does anyone have info on this round? It's practically a 6.5-284 minus 100-150fps but is a short action standard cartridge. Let me know what you think about this round!!

I thought the .260 AI was a 40-degree shoulder? But PO had alot of calibers that he made both 30 & 40 degree shoulder designs for.

That's why I never said Ackley, it's not an AI, it's and improved 30 degree shoulder.

You do realize majority of the "Improved" designs were designed by Ackley, right? Whether the dies just say ".260 Rem Imp 30*" or ".260 Rem Ackley Improved 30*"...It's the same thing, unless this smith is dumb and thinks be designed something "cool & unique". If so, he spent alot of time and money fixing a non-existant problem. LOL

My Redding .25-06 Ack Imp dies don't say Ackley on them, but they are. They simply say, "25-06 Rem Imp 40*".

Also, alot of people say "Improved" when they mean "Ackley Improved". But some cartridges were improved by people other than Ackley, but most designated them by their last name...Whelen, Gibbs, Jefferey, etc...

I'm looking at track record in competition and proven velocity with the 30 degree shoulder. Maybe just a regular 260 since I can get brass and a lot if data? Mudrunner, I'm looking actual experience with this particular cartridge as I'm extremely experienced with wildcats.
